I love this word!
From the Urban Dictionary: “That first cup of coffee in the morning when one’s eyes are still crusty and have not yet fully opened up to the world. Derived from the words “coffee” and “groggy” and experienced by millions of people worldwide everyday.“

BLITZ
First serious attempt at word burning. Our German Shepherd, Blitz.

JESUS BIRTH STORY
Created by combining pieces of wood then color washing them to make simulated stone. Completed using acrylic paints and fine markers. This has the privilege of being displayed in our home year round.

SCRAPICAL
This is what you do in about two hours with scrap pieces of luan plywood laying all over the garage floor.

RELAKS
Pieces of wood from pour painting experiment transformed into something to hang in the bathroom.
Acrylic with water and oil on wood mounted on acrylic painted wood framed with wood (hint – I used wood!).

DENIM & LEXUS
Per request. the horses on our property. It was said that I captured Denim’s “look” … I don’t understand how that’s possible cuz she’s not eating! They now hang on the run-in.
Acrylic paint on wood from an old table coated with marine varnish.

BUTCHERED PINEAPPLE
For my niece per request.
Strips of wood glued to a board (butcher block style), wood burned, painted with acrylic and sealed with marine varnish.

SCRAPACATUS
More uses of scrap wood from the garage floor.

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL
It’s August … that means certain people that I live with are getting excited about Fall! So, took a break from canvas painting to create this.

POOL SIGN
For our Olympic size 12 foot above ground enclosed puddle.

BLUEBIRD
Saw this on the world wide web and wanted to do it for a long time. Finally got around to it.

CARDINALS
Designed by Melissa. Created by me.

KILLER
I got to name him, his litter box never needs to be cleaned, he fends for his own food, doesn’t spray on things or go in heat and furballs are never a problem. The perfect kitten!

PARROT IN PARADISE NEAR THE POND ON THE PATIO
Created specifically for the tropical theme on one side of our slice of paradise with ongoing patio project.

HORSE SIGN
A combined creation with the wife, it’s a combination of wood burning, acrylic painting and markers.

McNECTAR
Using my homemade nectar, I acquired a hummingbird couple as new friends over the summer. Just in case they got distracted and forgot where the best nectar in the East was, I made them this sign that hangs above their feeder.

B-HIVE
Instructions: Using chainsaw, cut down dead tree. Notice cool ring pattern. Use imagination and create a unique painting surface. Use miter saw to create a bunch of equal width slices, avoiding fingers. Cut each slice into an octagon. Assemble octagons and glue to a flat board. Fill in gaps with saw dust and wood glue. Sand mercilessly. Sand some more. And then a bit more. Cut piece into a rectangle. Think … ‘hey! that kinda looks like a beehive’! Paint a bee and some flowers using water colors. Coat with marine varnish. Make a frame out of scrap wood.

FOR A GOOD TIME CALL
If this needs to be explained, you won’t understand. Just having some fun!

COOPERATIVE PUZZLE
I have seen similar things like this that children do. But, I figured, we can still act like children once i awhile. So, I got a blank puzzle and had my wife pick out the colors. We randomly painted the pieces with whatever we wanted. I wasn’t totally impressed when we first assembled it but it’s really grown on me. Sure, it’s really abstract but the more you look at it, the more interesting it becomes, in my opinion. I’d like to do another just like this but with fewer colors someday.

SERENITY PRAYER
I need to be reminded of this daily so it hangs near the side entrance to our house.

EAGLE LAMP
Secret Santa gift I created for my niece’s boyfriend for Christmas in 2025.
